Parking & Directions
The Town of Brookline lists no parking fee at Larz Anderson Park. The park road enters from Newton Street in Brookline, climbs past the ice rink parking lot to a summit parking lot at the top of the hill, and leaves downhill onto Avon Street. Park only in marked spaces: Brookline's park rules forbid parking on grass, outside designated areas or after hours, and set a 15 mph speed limit. The one time parking gets hard is a weekend car show at the auto museum, when the museum calls parking in the park and nearby very limited.

Addresses to Put in Your GPS
The park itself doesn't have a single street number; the Town describes it at Goddard Avenue and Newton Street. For navigation, the two published addresses inside the park both sit on Newton Street, where the park road begins:
- Larz Anderson Auto Museum: 15 Newton Street, Brookline, MA 02445 (museum guide)
- Jack Kirrane Ice Skating Rink: 23 Newton Street, Brookline, MA 02445 (rink guide)
- Brookline Recreation office (permits, not in the park): 133 Eliot St., Brookline
How the Park Road Works
The Town rebuilt the park road in 2023 and 2024, and its project updates lay out the route: an entry drive from Newton Street up to the ice rink parking lot, then on up to the summit parking lot, then down the far side of the hill to the park exit on Avon Street. The Town's rink plans also describe a lower accessible parking area near the rink and accessible spaces at the top of the hill, which it intends to keep.
Drive only on the park road. The Town's rules say no driving through any park except on designated roadways, and its brochure says private vehicles may not drive on the paths or park at the picnic shelter. If you are hauling picnic gear, the brochure mentions a two-wheel hand-truck kept for loading and unloading.
Which Lot for What
- Ice skating: the ice rink lot, the first lot on the road up from Newton Street. Rink hours.
- The view, the Green Dog area and sledding: the summit lot at the top of the hill. Dog rules · sledding.
- The auto museum: Newton Street; on show days, expect to walk. Lawn events.
- Picnic shelter, BBQ sites and playground: cars may not park at the shelter, so park in a designated lot and carry gear in. Park map.
Car-Show Weekends
From May to October the Larz Anderson Auto Museum holds lawn events nearly every weekend, and those are the days the lots fill. The museum warns that parking is very limited at the museum, in the park and in the vicinity, and asks visitors to carpool, use a rideshare or arrive by bicycle. Don't park in show fields, no-parking zones or between cones, and don't block private driveways on the neighboring streets. Trailers may not park anywhere in the park; the museum has them unload and move out to Newton Street.
Snow Days
Brookline's rules forbid parking in a park during a snowstorm or anywhere that gets in the way of snow removal. On a big sledding day, that means waiting until the plows are done, or walking in.
Hours and Overnight Parking
Brookline parks are open dawn to dusk, and the Town allows parking only during normal hours of operation. There is no overnight parking; the museum says so for show visitors, and the Town's rules let it tow cars parked in violation at the owner's expense. Full hours are on their own page.
Walking and Biking In
The museum's own advice for busy days is to come by bike or rideshare. The Town's brochure map shows the park bounded by Goddard Avenue, Newton Street and Avon Street, and it names a Goddard Avenue entrance and exit, so you can walk in from more than one side.
Rules That Get Cars Towed
- Parking on grass, outside a designated area, or against a posted notice.
- Driving faster than 15 mph or off the park road.
- Washing, polishing or repairing a vehicle in the park.
- Motorized devices, carts, snowmobiles or drones (the Town bans aerial devices; the museum bans drones in the park).
